For research participants
Last updated: May 2026
When you participate in research conducted by Mit+Mill Consulting LLC, we want you to understand how your information is collected, used, and protected. This page applies to all research activities we conduct, including in-depth interviews, observational studies, usability sessions, and surveys.
Participation in Mit+Mill research is always voluntary. You may decline to answer any question, pause, or withdraw at any time without consequence.
Recording and data collection
Depending on the research method, sessions may be audio recorded, video recorded, or documented through written notes. Surveys collect written responses electronically.
We will always inform you before a session begins whether it will be recorded and in what format. Recording will not begin without your explicit consent. If you withdraw consent during a session, recording will stop immediately.
For usability and observational studies, we may also capture screen activity or interaction patterns relevant to the research task. You will be informed of this before the session begins.
Confidentiality and anonymization
Your identity will not be disclosed in any research report, presentation, or other output without your explicit written permission. Findings are reported in aggregate or in anonymized form. Quotes or observations attributed to individuals will be paraphrased or de-identified unless you have expressly agreed to be identified by name.
In cases where research is conducted on behalf of a client, the client may receive a research report containing anonymized findings. Your name and identifying details will not be included in materials shared with clients.
Access to recordings and transcripts
Recordings and transcripts are accessible only to Mit+Mill research staff directly involved in the project. They are not shared externally except as required to facilitate transcription services, in which case transcription vendors are bound by confidentiality obligations consistent with this policy.
Clients do not receive access to raw recordings or transcripts unless you have separately and explicitly consented to this.
Retention and deletion
Recordings and raw research data are retained for a period of two years following the conclusion of the research project, after which they are securely deleted. Anonymized findings and research reports may be retained indefinitely as part of our research record.
You may request deletion of your recording or data at any time during the retention period by contacting us at the address below. We will confirm deletion in writing within 30 days of your request.
Use of findings
Research findings are used solely for the purposes described at the time of your participation. Mit+Mill does not sell participant data or use research findings for marketing or advertising purposes.
In some cases, anonymized and aggregated findings may inform published research, methodology documentation, or general industry insights. Where this is anticipated, you will be informed at the time of recruitment.

You have the right to:
Withdraw from a study at any time without providing a reason
Decline to answer any question
